I would like to have the xp welcome screen come up when I boot up. However it always just logs in automatically. This is very annoying because I have my account password protected and it still logs in automatically. I have gone into user accounts in the control panel and turned on welcome screen and user fast switching. But that doesn't help. I have tried creating other accounts and it still automatically logs into my account without asking for a password. Is there anything that I am missing...if so please help. thanks in advance.

To enable the (CLASSIC) logon you:

Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click User Accounts.
Click "Change the way users log on or off".
Click to clear the "Use the Welcome screen" check box.

When you disable the Welcome logon screen, Fast User Switching option also disabled.

I am not really concerned with the fast user switching, I don't even care if it is the Welcome screen or the classic logon. I just want some sort of a logon. But the way that it is set up now the option to logon when I boot up isn't there. It just boots straight into my profile without asking for a user or even my password. I have enable and disabled the option in the control panel-user profiles. The options do not effect the logon at all. Please help

You can try :

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type control userpasswords2, and then click OK.
In the dialog box that appears,
click the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer" check box, and then click OK.

I know this works in Win2k but never have tried it on WinXP.
