XP Upgrade?

I want to upgrade my system to the new Windows XP, but I want to do a clean install. Does the upgrade contain the full versoin of XP and only check the old versions disk to verify that you have purchased it or do you need to have the old version installed and upgrade by installing XP over it? The reason why I ask is that I dont want to spend the extra $100 for the full version if I dont have to.

You can do a clean install with the upgrade version. It will just ask you to stick in your qualifying upgrade disc for a second to check.

Win XP will do a clean install, It will give you the option of upgrade or clean install. The clean install will delete the current Windows directory so no need to reformat your drive. You will need about 900 megs for the install so make sure you have lots of free space. A clean install is the only way to go with XP.

I would recommend deleting your partition and formatting the harddrive with NTFS to gain the larger cluster size.
