i originally posted in tech support but that forum might as well be dead.

doing an xp pro upgrade from win2k

everything runs fine during the install but when it tries to load windows the 1st time, right at the windows xp logo screen it gets a BSOD and reboots.

The BSOD flashes on the screen for like half a second then the machine reboots. It doesn't even look like its posting the full BSOD screen.

I can get in under safe mode and i don't see any errors or driver problems in device manager. the hardware is fairly new, so I doubt its a compatability problem.
Its not running any software that other pcs using XP aren't.

i think i'm going to have to wipe it and reinstall win2k. i'd rather not do this but rigth now i can't thik of anything else.

i just tried reseating RAM and trying different sticks but that didn't make a difference. If I could at least see the BSOD i might be able to find something.

In safe mode, go to Control Panel / System properties, then go to Startup and Recovery settings under the Advanced tab. Uncheck Automatically restart under system failure and your system will no longer reboot when it blue screens.
