Installed XP upgrade from 98SE, Installs fine until final reboot then it restarts to black startup screen with just video card name on it. It is a Geforce 3 ti200 with 128ddr. I have changed bios settings around and currently have them on the default safe settings, I have reformatted and reinstall 98, updated everything on 98 and have 30.82 Nvidia drivers installed. Also no anti virus is installed. Anyone have any suggestions on how to get past this? Thanks

Have you tried a clean install of Windows XP? If not, try that and make sure you have the XP drivers (not sure if that Detonator pack works for all versions of Windows or not)

Agreed.
Do a clean install of Win XP. If you have the upgrade version, you'll have to put your 98 CD in at some point to prove you own it, but it should a straightforward install.

I am sure XP has Nvidia drivers that will work for that card

I went for fresh install on 98se then upgraded video driver to 30.82 for 98 since u cant have the xp driver without xp. Then did the upgrade, everything went fine, it was just on the final boot when u get the windows xp startup screen it reboots it self after it and sits idle with the Geforce 3 info on the top of the screen. I have tried several things none seem to work

Why are you installing Win98SE first? Why not just do a clean install of WinXP? I don't know if that method will get you past this obstacle, but it makes a lot more sense than cluttering your system with the remains of an OS you're not even going to use, doesn't it? Are we missing something here?

98SE and XP are totally different OSes in almost every way. I would not do an upgrade, even if seems appear to be running fun at first. I don't like doing upgrades of OSes even when they are based on the same core. Fresh installs are the way to go.
