Ok well .net framework screwed up and didn't install right. It messed up my IIS configuration as well. So I figure, fine, i'll just reinstall it. Well i found that i couldnt uninstall it because the uninstall procedures were somehow corrupt-- they kept giving me errors. So i said, well i'll take advantage of this new hyped up feature called system restore on XP Pro. It says it's fully reversible, so if i dont like the results, i can always go back, right?

Well i discovered that for some god-unknown-reason, XP only backed up SOME of my files that were created since last restore checkpoint. Oh sure it backed up my documents and such, but all the exes i downloaded since my last restore? It decided to play pick and choose among those and only give me SOME of the files. Like some of the security patches that i can find again on windows update. But did it save the 400 meg exe installation files for games and other applications? noooo, that would be too easy. Argh. Please, somebody tell me i'm doing something wrong and there's a quick fix to this. Because i restored back to my "original" messed-up-.net-framework state and my exes are still nowhere to be found. (though .net is still here and not working). I'm about to format C and start over, since D, E, and F are already reserved for data. But please somebody tell me i dont have to re-download all those freakin programs!
