How can you mannually apply a new downloaded theme? I mean, how can i make it available as one of the drop down styles when you right click on the desktop and go to properties... I have used programs to do it, but how can i do it manually?

Ive tried puting them in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes but it doest work...

...applying themes to an OS. We don't have an OS themes forum, so it goes in OS. The OS forum title is Operating Systems, not Crucial Operating System Questions Only forum.

fvck you guys... i just want a question answered and more people are on OT.... its not a big deal...

And besides it isnt an operating system question... it is how to install something... that something just happens to be about OS themes but not directly pertaining to OS... so HA! finding a folder to place the file has nothing to do with OS...

it's supposed to go under either os or software, but who cares really. it's nothing personal, nik does this all the time. just ignore him ;)

btw my first post wasn't a joke, use one of those patches and you'll be able to use non-ms themes

Yeah, don't take it personally, but we have other forums for a reason. Post topics in the correct ones :p

Fixed.

Asses need to learn how to use the forums.

This is an Operating System question. It deal with modifying the OPERATING SYSTEM. Even still, this would belong in Software well before it belongs in OT.

It doesn't matter that there are more people in OT, it doesn't change the fact that this is the wrong forum. Not only that, but you'll get a better answer in the correct forum.

We're sorry that you think your question is too important to comply with the rules, but you're wrong.

...and just because I'm a nice guy, if you're theme is correctly places in the directory, the actual theme file is with the other themes, and the uxtheme patch has been correctly applied, then all you need to do is to restart and the themes should appear in the drop down list. If this isn't happening, you're doing something wrong.

Its ok to call wrong forum when someone posts in a non off-topic forum. Like, if a guy posts about his processor in the software forum. Thats wrong, but it is plain and obvious that a style issue could be either software or operating system. Since it doesnt quite fit, off topic seems like the place to put.

Good lord. Minor things like this are no big deal (which I guess is why im arguing about it ;))

No.

That's like saying if it's not a red car, and it's not a blue car, you automatically file it under "black car" no matter what the color is. If it's kinda red... or kinda blue... that surely doesn't imply black.

Off-Topic: A public meeting place, a Pub, if you will... A place for computer junkies to boldly post Off Topic... Things you might want to tell everyone... Or things you wouldn''t say to anyone else.

Software: We all use software. Some of us write it, too. And there is always time for some good gaming. Here''s where you can get some help, or lend a hand.

Operating Systems: Windows 2K or not 2K? Is ME for you? Got an opinion to XPress? Discuss it here! What Operating System tickles your fancy? This is a forum for Unix, Linux, all flavors of Windows, BeOS, Solaris, OS/2, and virtually all other Operating Systems.

This topic fits either software OR OS, but does not even slightly kinda sorta fit in off-topic.

Seriously. Look at what sort of threads are in here and the other forums and tell me if it fits in perfectly with any of them.
