XP start menu disappeared!

for some reason my start menu has totally disappeared...not just the start part, but the entire bottom line with all the programs and time and stuff...

and its not just hidden

i also tried in control panel to click on "Taskbar and start menu" but that did nothing...

how do i get it back?

Looks like something made some rgistry changes. Run regedit and make sure the settings are as follows.

Run a spyware/ antivirus program. Try system restore.

ok i will try that...it seems though that the bar is now on an imaginary screen to the right of the screen

if i move the mouse off the screen to the right, at the level the bar should be, i can blindly click on programs that are on th ebar

What happens when you press the start/windows key?

I would try system restore before I started editing the registry. I do know that the above registry entries will restore the start menu however.

Do you have a board with built in graphics and an additional grapics card. If so make sure the onboard graphics are off.
