Anyone else get this pop up box?
I installed sp3 on my laptop, and when I resume from standby, I always get an RPC popup, and shuts down the system after a minute or two. Says it stopped working.
This a bug? is there a fix?

It says Remote Procedure Call (RPC) Terminated unexpectedly, window swill shut down in 4 minutes.

You might be able to cancel the shutdown through command line (shutdown -a). As for checking for the problem, I've not received that error. Check your event logs for any errors. Probably the best place to start.

is the system an HP model? perhaps Dell? link that may help. some reasons that these issues can happen is that OEMs use a standard image regardless of the cpu and then sometimes a image for an intel cpu is installed on an AMD system and so forth. this can cause issues. try reinstalling windows from scratch.

i have SP3 and it's been completly stable.

I had this Remote Procedure Call popup about a year ago (it happend as soon as I booted into XP), it turns out (after alot of google searching) that I infact had a virus which needed removal. I reformmated in order to solve the issue, but i suggest you may want to makesure your antivirus is up to date :).
