So I finally got around to installing SP3 the other day (XP Pro). After the restart, I get a "new hardware notification" and go ahead and install this Realtek audiodriver--had no clue where that came from. Then I learn that it is some newly craptastic "HD audio" driver or some such that came with SP3.
Well, it won't let my Audigy 4 Pro work anymore, so I uninstall the Realtek (I've been using Revo Uninstaller lately for my software removal, and it's been great). This doesn't fix anything. It still thinks the "device I am trying to use is attached to another device" when I try to access my sound controls.
Other fixes that have worked for people haven't worked yet: altering startup type in Windows Audio properties has done nothing. I restored to the time before installing SP3, but that didn't do anything. I completely uninstalled the Audigy drivers and downloaded/installed newer drivers (released July 08, after SP3), and nothing. I've done this several times--removing every Audigy tag from registry and restarting after uninstall and re-install.
Stuff:
XP Pro (SP3?) -after restoring to several sports prior, I'm not entirely sure if SP3 remains on the system...
Athlon XP64 3500+
Asus A8R32MVP-Deluxe
Audigy 4 Pro (Newest drivers)
Anything else I need to try?
