XP SP1 Problem

I installed SP1 and everything whent smothely until the restart. The only problem is that when I log on I get an invalid product ID number message. I can simply click OK and everything is normal and SP1 runs fine and I have no idea what is going on. My copy is legit strait from Microsoft in a retail box via a hot deal. I thought SP1 should not install on systems with invalid keys not give an error afterwards. Did SP1 damage my product key somehow? And is there any way to fix it?

Thanks

if you alter a few things in the original xp install then on installing sp1 & rebooting you may get a one off error message which doesn't recur after pressing ok!

My solution was on the Microsoft knowlege base here.

I did not even change anything, I simply used the script for SP1 and and entered the same key I had originaly and the invalid key error dissapeared.

Now I know SP1 messed up my key. Anyboudy else have such a problem or anyone know what sp1 did to cause my roblems.

Thanks
