I know this isn't too bad of a temperature but it isn't very good either. I'm using an Epox 8KHA+ and an Athlon XP 1700+ with a thermalright SK-6 and some Arctic Silver II. Getting 42 celsius about half an hour of use and not necessarily with any cpu intensive things.

LuDaCriS66,

HOw's your case cooling?

What is hte system temp according to your MB?

Depending on the system temp, how relatively "high" your temps are versus other 8kha+ users is unknown. If you have a 30C ambient system temp, then your temps are excellent.

KU,

You can't claim that without knowing his ambient system temp and other factors, such as case cooling.

Well, I don't have much case cooling. All I have is one 80mm fan at the rear of the case. The case temp ranges from 25 to 35 celsius. The CPU being at 42 isn't a huge deal I guess. Prior to installing the SK6, I had a stock fan with some generic thermal compound and I was going over 50 celsius. It's an okay improvement I think.,

Work on your case cooling first. No matter how good a heatsink, it can't work well if the case temp is too high. 35C max case temp is rather high.

Hi,

I have the same board and an XP 1600+, my case temp is around 28 C usually and my CPU temp is 42 C. This, however, is with a stock HSF. You should be seeing at least a few degrees lower temps than I do because of the SK6 but, I agree with the Mikewarrior2, your case temp is pretty high if it gets up to 35 C.

Okay, what kind of improvements do you think I should make? I only have the rear case fan.

I get 36-38 idle and no more than 41c max. My case temp is 32 though :( It was lower but I had to take out one the Sunons in the front to use for something else.
