XP setup - No keyboard

I'm installing XP pro and when i get to the setup the keyboard quits working. It will work during the install, in the CMOS/BIOS, and up to the Windows loading screen but once Windows starts loading it quits. I've tried another keyboard, and reinstalling Windows.

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI

Compaq GYUR66SK
KEYTRONIC E0360WPG-C

The keytronic was working fine with w2k

The USB mouse works, but unfortunatly I don't have a USB keyboard

Ok this sounds crazy but it worked for an old Intel server board I had. It was even instructed on Intel's site to do this. Try using a PS/2 mouse and keyboard but reverse the plugs. Put the keyboard in the mouse PS/2 socket and the mouse in the keyboard socket. I had a very similiar problem installing Win2k Server on the Intel board and that fixed it for me.

As a matter of fact I found the support article on Intel's site. Check it out. Linky

I had this problem too with a ps/2 keyboard.. the problem went away after I disabled USB mouse support in the BIOS. My USB mouse and ps/2 keyboard still worked fine then.

I loaded optimized BIOS settings (an option in the BIOS) and it fixed the problem. No idea how though.
Sounds to me like your basic IRQs got screwed up... A lot of times they'll get manipulated from what they should be in the BIOS and the OS won't be able to touch them.
