XP requires boot disk to load

ok i just installed xp pro, now whenever i restart,xp wont load but asks for me to insert my boot disk. once i insert the xp install disk, xp loads right up. i've never seen this before and was wondering if anyone has any ideas.

right now my os is loaded on 2 sata drives in a raid 0 array. i was thinking maybe windows is having a problem recognizing them. i also have an ide drive installed for storage purposes.

Sounds like you may have a simple BIOS problem - the correct boot drive may not be so designated. Are the SATA drives "seen" in POST?

yes. windows is loaded onto my data drives. im starting to think that my initial windows boot files are loaded onto my ide drive, then the rest of windows is loaded onto my sata drives. is this possible? since in the bios my sata drives are primary, would this explain why it can't find the boot files?
