How can you rename the administrator account without creating a new account w/ admin. privileges and then deleting the orginal admin. acct. OR using Group Policy Editor and hunting through that mess looking for:
Computer Config./Windows Settings/Security Settings/Local Policies/Security Options/Accounts: Rename administrator account

Next; How can I logon w/o always retyping the password as you could in 2k?

Really like 2k better, way too much bloat even w/o the FP interface!

Try Control Panel -> Users and Passwords. I'm not sure if that's what it's called because I haven't used XP in a few months but it's something close if not.

You should be able to rename the account names and such there.

As far auto-logging in, I'm not sure other than using PowerToys for Windows XP which is available from Microsoft's site (do a search).

That would be correct. You can also right-click on 'my computer' and then go to manage and get to local users and groups there.

You cannot delete the default administrator account, you can only rename it.

like the other guy said, you can only rename the local admin account, you can't delete it. This is done like you said in local security policy.

As for auto logon, download tweakui for xp from microsoft, it has a autologon feature...very useful :)

You can diable the default administrator account if you are afraid it leaves a backdoor open to your computer from Computer Management.

Autologin Start > run > control userpasswords2 No need to install TweakUI
Someone else suggested that.
That is the older far better 2k style User Accounts dialog box.
Where the hell is it in the windows folder?? I want to create a shortcut for that instead of typing all of that everytime I want to access it!

Another of the L-O-N-G list of crappy changes to FP that I don't like! Just more of a reason to stick with 2k (which I am, but I wanted to get familar with this thing in the mean time).
