I just reinstalled XP Pro from Home. I used the "Boot from CD" method and deleted old folder. Normally when i reinstall windows... my documents are still there, theyre just under documents and Settings. Although the folder was there, the documents werent and im unable to access the folder. Any thoughts? Tons of images, files, and important documents in there. Can anyone tell me how to retrieve these files? thanks so much

Its a tough one. Perhaps you can take your hard drive to another computer system and daisy-chain it as a "slave" drive to recover just the data files. Otherwise, you can also buy another hard drive, and keep the one that you need for reformat as the "slave" or "secondary" drive. HD's are very cheap these days.

Looks like you did a fresh install and overwrote the entire disk. Normally a repair install keeps all your data intact and changes only the OS files. Still give CocoDog's suggestion a try and see what yo can get.
