XP Regret

I still have to run a dual boot because there are some things xp cant do well

Only problems I`ve had is some of my favourite old games won`t run with XP,dual booting is a quick fix solution which I think I`ll have to try.XP in general has been excellent for me on stability.

98? lol. yeah I like my 6 year old operating systems

Sorry, couldn't pass this up... what does 98 do better than XP?

Some old games just won`t run in XP but run fine in 98,you can`t really blame XP for that, 98 does come in handy for those stubborn games 😉.

i hate windows xp! all they needed to do was combine the nt kernal and 98 and cut all the bullshit with frills and gimmicks and they would have a great os, but instead xp is just an overbloated sack of trash. id choose 2k to be honest before id choose either of the 2 choices given.

I use 2K at home and love it, XP at work gives me headaches with all the frills and I want to turn those off. Both are much better for stability than 9X versions, but I can not play my Xwing vs Tie Fighter on 2k or XP because it wont work with anything above DX5 I think. Anyone have a fix for that problem and I will give 2k or XP the total go.

30-year-old operating systems seem to be getting by pretty well still.
In any case, I do have at least one game that XP doesn't handle reliably while 98 never had a problem with it.
Then agian, I have another old game that even 98 couldn't run reliably. Can't wait to get an older computer and put DOS on it!

I don't regret it, never did it. Never used either one. Went from 95/NT to ME/2K. Now the only Windows is 2K.

The computer I'm on now is running Vector Linux 4.0. I just installed tonight.

Hey, this is my first ever post from Linux.😀

Here you go

I left win98 1999 for win2k beta and never looked back.

after that i switched to whistler beta and im now using xp.

The main reason i have stayed with xppro is the support for Hyper Threading Technology and the performance benifit that comes with HT! Wiin98 dosent have any smp support at all...while in 2k it can work (seems to depend on the mobo/bios but generally not recommended to run a ht enabled wk box) not as good as in winxp though.

Overall XP OWNS any other previos version of windows completely, IMO there not much of a option here go with XP if you have a P4C chip. If you have Athlon64/p4b/p4a then go with 2kpro/xppro or even win98se

edit: added win98 to the last line 😉 😀

I never even bothered with 98 or Me. Went straight from 95 to NT 3.51, NT4, and then Windows 2000. I don't play games so running old apps has never been a concern.

my xp looks just like win2k. not sure why some folks can't figure out how to disable the visual bloat. personally i think MS should have killed off win98 while it had the chance, mighta forced some people to finally upgrade.
