this could be a question about IE6 in xp

I have somhow lost my progress bar in internet explorer 6 that comes with xp
it is the little green bar at the bottom of the screen that tells u how much download is left for the page

do you have a status bar?

Check to make sure that your status bar is checked. If it is, then maybe your IE is corrupt...
 
my roomate runs xp and has that status bar...UNTIL he open a new window...then he loses it! something tells me there's something weird going on....

I've eXPerienced that too.... but only when pressing CTRL+N or going to FILE->New... never when right clicking a link and opening in a new window or using the google toolbar to open a new window... probably will be fixed in a sp release...
 
This is a known bug. There is a HUGE thread on this at MS's own newsgroup. For now, you'll have to click view>status bar.
