At my friends house and just installed win XP and then restarted after instatting a couple of drivers. the computer booted to after the hardware cheak and just before the win XP logo with the blue bar flashing across the screen the computer appears to have froze. The screen is all back with just a flashing white underscore. I waited for 4 min or something and all is not working. HDD not runing anything as well. Restarted a coupple of times and all the same. I also disonnected all my other HDD's but nothing..

Any one with the same problem?

Thanks

PS: i might just have to reinstall.

go into safe mode and get rid of the drivers you installed. Add them back one at a time to see which one is doing it.

Same thing happened to me last night. Like Abzstrak said. Go into safe mode and uninstall your video drivers. Reboot. then install them on your own.

Negative. Its called Last Known Good. Its meant for this situation and it rolls you back to your last known good configuration right before you installed the driver that hosed everything. Press F8 during the boot process and it should give you some advanced startup options. Last Known Good will be one of them. Reinstall if you want but its a waste of time if LKG fixes it.

Er.. you cant even get to that stage. It stops as soon as it gets base to Bios boot sequence. i reinstalled again and it was find untill i booted to win98 and then tried to go back to XP, the the same problem again.

try totally shutting down then booting into XP ! Possible something is corrupted on the windows 98 partion i would swipe the whole drive or partion one section for just back up and reinstall both OS's ! If it comes to that .
