Hey all, this is my first post so please try and be patient with me!

Basically, i have built my first pc and am having problems with the OS! I had XP Pro working perfectly but then had to change some bits and peices inside. I decided to wipe all the hard drives totally then do a clean install of XP Pro.

I have wiped the discs then loaded XP on. But now when i start the pc it says - boot from CD?

I put the windows cd in then hit reboot first harddrive and it loads ok?

Why is this?

Is there any way in which i can get it to just load normally without having to boot it?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the AT forums!!!

kinda sounds like a corrupt install, or BIOS not always detecting HD.

Do a clean install. Then, move the cdrom back down the boot list. It sounds like you have the cdrom set higher in the boot order, and if you do, it is always going to try to boot from the cdrom.

Thanks for the replies!

Ok, i tried moving the cd rom down the boot list in BIOS but no joy. Then i completely removed cd rom from the list and it still asked to boot from disc!

I tried doing a clean install of windows but the excatly same problem is happening again! Aggghhh

How can i totally wipe my two hard drives and start over again?

I have been formatting and partitioning them in the XP Pro setup, but is this good enough and will it totally clean out the system?

Thanks in advance
