xp pro with 4gb ram??

Yes, but it will only see ~3.2gb of RAM on the 32-bit version.

And you'll have to get a 64-bit version of Vista to avoid the issue. So long as it doesn't bug you too much that you can't get to that 750mb of RAM or whatever, it won't hurt a thing.

Note that Vista will hurt your fps compared to XP though.

Game performance should be equal or better with 4gb vs. 2gb.

Corsair did some tests: http://www.corsairmemory.com/_...rformance_Analysis.pdf

The tests were done with Vista home premium 64 bit, so there might be some differences with XP.
The article has a good explanation of the differences between 32 bit and 64 bit OS.
