XP Pro - User Account - Cant Delete?

My XP was set to login as admin when I booted up. It was the only user account on there. I added "Test" as a new user just to test something on the desktop, and now when I log back on as admin, it will not let me delete "test". Is there another way to delete this, there is NOT an delete option anywhere. Thanks!

If you had been using "the" Administrator account, and then added a second one, now Windows won't let you delete the second one because it doesn't want you to routinely use "the" Administrator account. So you started by doing something that isn't normally done, and now that you've stumbled into normality, it won't let you go back without fussing.

I don't know a way to undo it, btw.

Test is admin account now too

Administrator is built in admin account

Nex created is administrator as well, and can't be removed.

Ummm, well it worked great before I added another account, so there has to be a way to delete it somewhere lol.

Boot into SAFE Mode and then go into the User Accounts
You should be able to delete it that way for sure
If that won't do, try changing the Account Type to Limited
while in SAFE Mode, then try to Delete it

I've had that happen once or twice. The XP Professional install process bypasses the networking setup and the "Add User Accounts" setup screens. You end up with only the Administrator account. I wish I could do this ALL the time, because I don't want to add any Local User accounts before joining the PC to the Domain.

This exact thing happened to me yesterday. I installed two identical XP Professional OEM packages on two different computers. One install wanted to create User accounts and the other skipped them. Weird.

You can skip the account creation by entering the name of an account that already exists. I typically use 'system'.

I'll tell you when it skips creating additional accounts. There are two cases: when Windows recognizes your video card and when it doesn't.

If it doesn't recognize it, right after installation, before login, Windows asks you to change resolution, and asks do you see the message. if you press cancel, new accounts won't be created, it takes you straight to login screen with 'Administrator' offered as a choice. If you press "OK", then you go to account creation pages.

If Windows recognizes your video card, then account creation appears in all cases.

Thanks for that one, too, Stash! I've tried putting in "Administrator", but it doesn't allow that one.
