XP Pro SP1 problem

I install SP1 and I can connect to my ISP, but I can't get any further.
When I uninstall SP1, everything returns to normal.

Any suggestions?

Wait for the official release, and if it still doesn't work. Uninstall it and wait untill they tweak the buggy service pack.

Yes, but you downloaded it before the official release date. Also, Microsoft has a reputation for releasing things with major bugs in them. It would be who's who of you to wait until other people discover the bugs that the SP causes, and then wait till MS fixes them before you install it.

Several people including myself have installed XP SP1 without any adverse effect. So your problem might be an isolated case.

How are you connected? If its through a usb connection, then that might be your problem.

In their known problems file, it lists having to reinstall usb drivers (sometimes)

might even behoove the rest of us.... awww what the heck... i'm just going to image the drive first and try it.
good luck
Good, it sounds like you know what you are doing. You forsee a bit of a "risk" in installing a new Service Pack and are backing up your data. If there is a "bug" then get in touch with Microsoft, bugs need to be reported.

sp1 works fine with my dsl and wife's dial up AOL (yuk).

sounds like a modem issue. What model modem are u using?
usb?
Have u tried reinstalling the modem or moving it to a new pci slot?

To be honest, I have not seen any improvement with sp1, it feels a little slower.

peace

Same problem here, i installed SP1, and i couldnt get my verizon dsl connection to work. Uninstalled, and it worked fine. (the external modem connects to my ether card)
