Anyone here try installing (upgrading) XP Pro from Win2K Pro on a SCSI dual boot PC?
I've got it running fine with XP Plus on my older IDE HDD machine (rig#2, was also running Win2K) but at the end of the XP install on the newer unit (#1 in "my rigs" below), I saw a message stating that I might need 3rd party SCSI and/or RAID drivers (great time to see that BTW 🙁).
Then after it re-boots I get this nasty blue error screen:
"IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"
I found some info on this at XP-erience.org but it's not the exact same issue.
On my PC, it says to make sure all hardware and software is properly installed and if prob still exists, disable or remove any newly installed hardware or software. Disable Bios memory options such as caching or shadowing. Well, there's no new hardware or software that wasn't doing just fine before with both Win98 or Win2K. The PC still boots/runs Win98SE but I can't get past that error screen in the XP OS after attempting to boot it. I can hit F8, get the safe mode start screen selection but it still won't even boot into safe mode (past that error screen).
Short of attempting to DL the XP bootup floppy (from long message here on XP) and trying another install over it, might anyone here have any other ideas?
I can save anything I want to from being in Win98 so if I have to reformat, it wouldn't be the worst thing but I'm trying to avoid doing that.
