XP Pro and SMC Router

I have an SMC Cable/DSL Router model# SMC7004BR.
My question is: I just switched to XP Pro and it doesn?t like the free version of
Zone Alarm. With my Router do I even need another firewall on my system? Are there special setup parameters to use with Zone Alarm so it will work with XP?

Any help is appreciated

I upgraded my second system to XP Home. ZoneAlarm (FreeWare) wasn't working. I uninstalled this program, download the latest and shazam. It now works with XP.

I did download the latest and still had problems. One time I could go to another site and the next time I would get nothing until I disabled ZA. I knew I had a problem with ZA because I couldn't access my email either. But as soon as ZA was disabled everything worked fine.

Any setting ideas that I can try?
