I just got my new system up and running (A7V333+XP2200+512MB), got XP Pro loaded, and it connects to my existing 2K Server.

Whenever I try to copy a large file (1GB+) from the network share to my system I get an error that says "Cannot copy filename.ext : The specified network name is no longer available." where "filename.ext" is the name of the file I'm trying to copy.

Smaller files copy over fine. It also seems to copy over a little of the file before giving me an error.

Any ideas?

Update - I can FTP files over no problem. I changed the default FTP directory to the directory where the stuff is I want to transfer. I was able to transfer 4.7GB of data with no problem.

Smells like a problem with Windows networking. Also, I've been reading on various sites (Google, etc.) and this sounds like a widespread problem. I cant believe that this OS is being used in corporate America with this problem!?

Can YOU transfer large files using XP Pro as a client and Win2K as the server?

Is your xp box set to simple file sharing. Don't know if this will solve the problem, but I know its caused other problems.

Tools- Folder Options- scroll to bottom- uncheck simple file sharing

I spoke too soon - it's back. :(

I had a server problem and had to reload 2K Server. Now the problem's back. I unchecked "simple file sharing"

Any ideas?

OK, I just popped in a new Netgear FA311 card into the Win2K server. I was thinking the problem was caused by my old 3Com 10MB card.

Still no go.
