Great deal on the WIn XP 64 bit,
I got mine working now and it's great,
Especially if you don't need a printer hooked up(that is a little old)
Having a tough time getting a 64 bit firewall that i like too,
But overall for $50 it's a great deal.

I can't wait to play Farcry 64 bit_
some say It may be a bit safer too? not as many virus and trojans for 64 bit?

For the XP CD. So you are basically just buying a reinstall CD. You do not get a license for it correct?

I believe that is an individual of a volume license. I'm not sure what relationship you would have to have with the volume licensee for it to be legitimate

I've been running x64 since it has been in retail. It works great, starts up faster than x86 (32bit windows) at least for me.

Downside would be drivers. Almost everything I have works with either no drivers or beta ones. Note: logitech has no drivers for any of their webcams.

Oh yeah, the x64 farcry is awesome! 😀 HL2 works excellent on it too (since the source engine is now also in 64bit).

x64 is worth getting provided you have no truly obscure hardware to support. Pretty much every program I throw at it works fine, save 16-bit programs which do not work at all. Drivers, yeah, a lot are beta, but they work just fine. No significant problems to speak of. And as a bonus, the network core is cut and paste from server 2k3 x64, not XP's network core. This makes any network stuff you have to do that much faster and more stable.

FTW

Officemax has simpletech 256mb flashdrives for $9.99 btw. They are usually at the front registers.

So did anyone who ordered a copy of xp pro 64 bit have any problems? i need a cheap (legit) copy and was wondering since this is pretty dang cheap for windows

Can xp64 run on a 32bit system?

I used to have a P4C2.6G, which is a 32-bit CPU. I attempted to install XP 64-bit beta on it about a year or more ago and it did not even start the install. It right away said it was not compatible with the CPU. So, based on that experience, I would say No.

I just bought the Win XP Pro x64, I'll let you know how it goes. Ground shipping so my gues is I'll have it in about a week to 10 days.

Probably less than that. "Ground" is USPS, I usually get my stuff in under a week.

Can you install XP64 along side XP32 in a duel boot?

I thought you could once you partion the drive....correct me if I am wrong.

So my answer is "yes"?

You can install the 64bit XPin a dual boot but you still need a 64 bit processor to run it.
