Hello,

When I originally set up my system I partitioned my HD with 20GB for XP (which I thought would be more than adequate). The OS is currently up to date with all updates and I am using up 19.4 GB of the allotted space. Does this sound about right for XP? I have less than 1 GB remaining on the partition and am worried about soon-to-appear problems. Or do you think that the space is being eaten up by unnecessary BS. BTW, all programs/data are installed on other partitions and HDDs. Appreciate any input.
 
That partition is way larger than normal. I've got an XP partition setup with the OS, all updates, and all programs and I'm only using 5.3gb. Try deleting temporary Internet files and/or deleting unnecessary restore points.
 
System restore is off. One of the users on the system shows 16 GB in explorer but I can't find any large files when I look in the folder. Any tips on cleaning up this mess. I suspect that Azureus is the culprit. Where might I find saved data from that program?
 
Within a user's "Documents and Settings" folder, there are at least two hidden folders. Manually type "Local Settings" and "Application Settings."

It could be that the IE browser cache hasn't been emptied in a while.

FYI, I've had my XP config for roughly 2+ years now. I am using less than 4GB with all of my apps installed. Truly personal files (documents), installed games and benchmarks, MP3s, and downloads are the only files *not* included in that 4GB count. I move those files to other volumes, as I know they'll likely take up much more space.

There are utility programs that make routine system maintenance tasks ridiculously easy.

Ace Utilities would my suggestion. Fully-functional 30-day trial, $30 to buy. It is also the safest utility I've encountered.

IIRC Azureus installs it's shared directory to the installer's desktop by default, though he/she can then move it to anywhere they want.

 
SequoiaView was an excellent program to identify the problems. Thanks for the suggestion. Found the problem and am now down from 18 GB to 5 GB. Thanks all.
