Yup I don't think I have ever upgraded a cpu without upgrading a mobo so the upgrade path is not really that much of a deal for me.
 
Didn't Socket 939 come out in June? I think six months with no major issues is plenty of testing time. If you waited a year or two for everything to get tested over and over until there is no more glitches, a new line would come out and then you would have to rethink your whole upgrade path again. From what I see, if AMD keeps dual core on the 939 Socket (which everyone seems to think they will), then I don't think AMD will release a new socket for quite some time. Just my two cents.
