XP not recognize both sides of partition?

I just partitioned 10gb for XP leaving like 630 on the "other side" of the partition. How do I get XP to see all those free glorious gbs? Can I set the big part to my default drive where all future files will install?

Also, is there a button I can keep mashing in order to make my wireless interent work. I installed the driver for my wireless adapter but I dont even see the little wireless symbol. Ill deal with trying to remember my password after XP demands it from me (something I consider a good thing as it means, usually, that is my last hurdle.)

Why dont I just buy a Dell and save the money on the Tylenol?

All help is most surely appreciated.

To get the rest of your disk capacity,

1) log on with an Administrator-level account (which you may already have done)

2) Click on Start, right-click My Computer, and choose Manage from the right-click menu. Computer Management will open.

3) in Computer Management, go down to Disk Management and after a few moments you'll see your disk drives represented by horizontal bars in the right-hand panel. You can right-click on the unpartitioned part and make a partition, and then it should show up in My Computer and other programs.

In the bigger picture, 10GB is not that much capacity, since that'll be getting used for your installed programs as well as WinXP. If it were me, I'd start over and make that a lot bigger.

Does anyone know how to change the default disk, i.e. from my 10gb OS partition to my big partition so that all downloads, installs etc...now would default to the big part of the drive?

For WinXP, your best bet is to start over.

1) start WinXP Setup from the CD-ROM, blah blah

2) when it gets to the part where it's showing the partitions you could install onto, delete both partitions, and then press the F3 key twice to exit from Windows Setup this first time. Obviously, this will result in the loss of all data on the drive, so make sure you're not losing anything important.

3) now start WinXP Setup from the CD-ROM a second time, make your partitions as desired, pick one to install onto, and carry on with Windows Setup all the way through.

The reason for step 2, is so that your boot-up process doesn't end up with an annoying screen asking which of two WinXPs you want to boot (one of them being non-existent).
