Hi all,

A curious problem, this one:
Every now and then, WinXP will pop up with the "Blank CD" wizard thing (that one that's a bit like Autorun, with different tasks depending on the media) when I insert a CD/Audio CD/DVD into either my Pioneer DVD drive or 16x CDRW drive. No manner of re-inserting, disabling Norton Antivirus, disabling In-CD, etc, does anything. This is driving me up the wall, I just want to be able to USE my CDs/DVDs!!
This is kinda a sporadic problem, sometimes it's fine for days, then it starts doing it again and won't stop until I reboot.

Does anyone have any ideas? I really need to sort this out...

By the way, it's an SP1 Pro install, was doing the same thing without SP1 applied though.

Cheers,

Dopefiend

sounds like a bad driver issue to me. when the message pops up, can you do anything with your drives?
might also be happening because both the dvd drive & writer on the same controller. i'd suggest going to windows update & see if there are any driver updates for your machine, then checking the manufacturer's website on your dvd drive & writer for any driver updates.

This could be because of a particular service that may be running in the background of windows XP. Goto control panel, administrative option and then to services. Disable the IMAPI CD Burning feature. Mebbe this could be the problem. Let me know
