I currently have two comps both of which is running windows xp sharing a dial up connection. The problem is when I accidently unplugged my switch and then replugged it in the client computer no longer will connect to the net via internet explorer or game accounts etc. The strange part is that msn messenger seems to be working fine and sharing the connection. I've tried running the wizard to set up my network but this does not fix the problem.

On the client comp the gateway shows up as connected and file sharing etc is working fine. I'm at a loss here.. any help appreciated.

While unplugged, the OS probably sensed the change and reconfigure part of the Network Settings.

The Network Wizard has "No Magic", it "sux" big time.

Step 1: For the propose of the checking, disable all software Firewall (including WinXP native
ICF); disable any active Virus scan or any other utility that might intercept
Network Traffic.

Step 2: Look in Control Panel / Network Connections, and make sure that the drivers are installed, and there is no hardware conflict.

Step 3: Recheck all Network settings in the Control Panel Network Connections. Make sure that you are plugged correctly.
