Is X12.5 the highest multiplier for an unlocked XP? I have an Abit KR7A-133R, is it my motherboard? Has anyone gotten an unlocked XP to go X13 or higher?

I believe the KR7A will only go up to 13 because my roommates got the same board with an XP1700+ and 13 is all he can get.

Yes, the mobo will have a particular highest multiplier it can manipulate. However, you only have ratios 12.5 or less by default - that's due to the CPU. If you change the L10 bridges (see the interactive bridge painting guide on this site) then you'll have ratios >12.5 available.

For example, if I choose 13* ratio, the effective ratio will default back to 12.5* - as I've not changed the default L10 position (unlocked 1800+, EPoX 8KHA+).

So if I want to unlock my CPU and have access to multipliers higher than X12.5, I need to do the L1 bridges and the correct L10 bridge?

Oh, I'm not interested in what the BIOS "says" it will do, I'm interested in what has actually been achieved.

...precisely. One L10 position gives multipliers of 12.5 and below - the other gives 12.5 and above. Your mobo is pretty new, so the odds are that it supports higher multipliers (*15, perhaps)?

You'd think with Abit boards known to be "very tweakable boards", I'd have a whole slew of multipliers. But as minendo said, the KR7A only has an "Above 13X" option in the bios. The bios may sense the L10 jumpers and display the multiplier options accordingly. The only ways to find out is to either find someone with an XP2100+ on a KR7A or get brave and cut the one L10 bridge and short the other.

Thanks for the heads up on the additional L10 info, FatMan42.
