XP mobile FSB?

What exactly is the default FSB on the XP mobile (barton core)?

Newegg is reporting it as 266Mhz but the overclocking article up today indicates that it is 333Mhz.

The default FSB for the XP mobile Bartons is 266Mhz (133x2).

The default FSB for the XP desktop (non-mobile) Bartons is 333Mhz (166x2) and 400Mhz (200x2 - 3200+ only).

That doesn't jive with the article:

"However, the FSB speeds and multiplier are also a fortunate accident on the 2500+, since 11X is also the same multiplier as the top 3200+ Athlon XP. Since the 2500+ runs at 166 FSB, 3200+ performance is often as easy as setting the FSB to 200 from the default 166. Most, but not all, 2500+ can easily reach 3200+ speeds. The 2600+ mobile also looks even more promising as an overclocker, though we have not yet tested it. With specifications of the same 45 watt power consumption, a 12 multiplier, and 166FSB, it is hard not to be tempted when it is less than $10 more than a 2500+. "

This indicates that the 2500XP mobile is running at 166.67 x 11 = 1.83Ghz (default). Thus FSB = 166.67 x 2 = 333Mhz.

Any thoughts?

My understanding is the same as that of Blue Weasel and Newegg.

But it is, for practical purposes, a false question. In this context we are talking about using the mobile in a desktop mobo. There is no default value because this is an unidentifiable chip for such mobo's. IIRC, my mobile 2600+ defaulted to FSB 100 X 8 multi for 800mhz procesor in my NF7-S.

EDIT: Check Here mobile Barton reported to have FSB 133

EDIT 2: I see no reason why both couldn't be correct. If they started producing lappies with a 166/333 FSB mobo's, the default settings for the chips will change too.

whatever article you read is incorrect

check here for correct fsb/multiplier figures

~ The Mobile Barton 2400+ runs at a stock speed of (13.5 X 133) 1795.5 MHz

~ The Mobile Barton 2500+ runs at a stock speed of (14 X 133) 1862 MHz

~ The Mobile Barton 2600+ runs at a stock speed of (15 X 133) 1995 MHz

It is most definetly 133, though mine defaulted to 6x100, and is happily chugging away at 210x11.. Waiting on a better heatsink to arrive in the mail.

Who cares? It can run at 1000 FSB x 1 if you can find a chipset, memory, and subsystems capable.
