Does that seem in line with most other overclockers? .3 volts over stock doesn't seem too bad for a 35% overclock. Anyway of getting anything more out of the chip? I have it at 12.5 * 200, but I can't raise the FSB any higher due to cheap PC 3200 RAM. Won't boot at 13x multiplier, even with 1.85 vcore.

You are maxed out without being able to bump the fsb most likely, and if the info provided in another thread is accurate you are actually pushing more voltage than you think text

So he's actually putting in 1.850v?

Yup, my 2600+ XP-M is running at 2.5 Ghz (11.5x215) with 1.75v on a 8RDA board.

Unless you have one of the few boards that allow the full range of multipliers (NF7-S and the DFI Lanparty boards), you won't be able to access the multipliers over 12.5x anyway.

Unfortunantly, its not quite that concrete. I can't boot at any settings that alow more than 2.4ghz. Its kindof a conundrum in my case, because for some reason i can't get stable with fsb above 216, even at 2.8vdimm and PC3500 ram...could it be dual channel?

my point was, just having an NF7-S won't garuntee you that level of Ocing.

I can't get a stable 200MHz or even close with my PC3200. It used to be fine at 210, now I am down to 167MHz :( I don't know why the RAM stopped working, 2 sticks from different mfr's, neither seems to work (Memtest 86 showed errors for both at 180MHz or so, 2.9vdimm), even though they used to.

15x167 (2523MHz) @ 1.888v (CPU-Z) 1.93 in the BIOS using a Barton 2500+ M and an NF7 (non-S)
Havent tried any higher because, well, the vCore is already much higher than I would really like, so I'm not going any further (unless I go water).

Just because it can boot, doesn't mean it's stable. I can also get my 45w xp-m 2500 to about 2.55 ghz on 1.78v (supposedly, that's what my bios tells me), but it wont run stable at that speed, even if I set it to 1.81v, and there's no way I'm setting it any higher. It runs stable, however, at like 2.45 ghz, on 1.78v, and load temps are already 56C, I dont want to go any higher.

Yeah, I have an AN7, basically same thing as a NF7, and it also won't run stable past 216fsb, even with 1.75v on the chipset, and 3.2v on the memory, which is ocz pc4000 vx gold, so I know the memory can handle it. The weird thing is if I use a ram divider, and run it at say 150 mhz, then I can take the fsb to about 225 stable, but the performance sucks anyways with such slow memory speed. I think maybe the memory controller can't handle the high fsb speed, because if I do the opposite, like run the fsb at like 130, and the memory at 250, it still cant even boot, even with lose mem timings. And I even put heatsinks on the southbridge and voltage regulators, still no difference. I don't know how some ppl get these things to 240fsb.

Hey Ya'll,

When you O/C this chip does it come up as an Unknow CPU in the BIOS as well as in Windows? This is what mine does and I was wondering if it is normal.

Thanks.

Yeah, it's normal. Some boards have special BIOS for the mobile chip and those will report it instead of "unknown". Mine says "unknown".

Seems 216-220 is the normal "wall" for these boards with stock BIOS. If you wanna go higher, wander over to the Abit or nForcersHQ sites and hunt up some modd3d BIOS by Tictac etc. They'll get you above 200FSB.
