xp-m 2400 problems

Got everything in the box today and was hoping to have my HTPC up and running in no time, but I've been having some issues with the processor being properly recognized.

Went with a ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe motherboard in conjunction with an Athlon XP-M 2400+ (45W).

Been fiddling with various FSB and multiplier settings, not really looking to OC - just want something stable and cool. Depending on what I select though, it either shows as Unknown Processor or as Mobile Athlon XP but at a very low clock speed. (i.e. I tried 133x14 for what I thought would be the default and I get 700 Mhz when I reboot).

It'll do 200x13.5 (again, Unknown Processor), but after letting it run that way for an hour and keeping my eye on the hardware monitor within the bios, it was running about 50-51C, which seemed kinda high for idle.

Just hoping ya'll have some suggestions, haven't really messed around with this multiplier and FSB stuff much before so I'm kinda in the dark. Just want something cool and stable - keep in mind this is an HTPC box, so quiet is important. Thanks!

Unless you do a pin mod or wire trick your A7N8X-E can't provide a multiplier higher than 12.5 with your mobile (5.0 through 12.5 are it). No big deal, just try 11x200 and see how that goes. BTW, when you set the multiplier to 14 it actually was at 6 (subtract 8 from multipliers from 13 up).

The stock BIOS doesn't recognize laptop CPUs so that's why you get "Unknown CPU Type". Doesn't hurt anything and will work fine otherwise. You can get the Trats modded BIOS which will properly ID the XP-M. Also, multipliers 10 and 10.5 won't POST unless you get Trats.

I've downloaded the Trats bios, but every time I try to flash it hangs right after selecting 'Y' to verify flash. Any further suggestions?
