I downloaded a driver update from Microsoft some Via Net driver and now I am getting lockups.
Is there a way I can rollback that driver, if so please elaborate.

just my 1st rule to a happy life , but NEVER DOWNLOAD DRIVERS FROM MICROSOFT!!. got to device manager and select the offended device . properties\driver roll back driver. good luck
