I heard or read somewhere (I think) that you can install the system onto a personal Desktop and laptop system. Is this true or a figment of my imagination (or my subconciousness trying to save money)?

So you are saying one copy per machine. I was sure I had read one copy per desktop AND laptop you own.

Damn!

I think it is one copy per machine. You should really ask Microsoft these questions.

I read that you can do a desktop/laptop with Office XP, but not Windows XP. Maybe that is what you were thinking of?

It depends on your license, but you didn't say which one you have. I'm presuming you mean a store or OEM bought version, in which case the answer is no that is not the terms of the license. As someone else stated, OfficeXP has this option in SOME of the licenses (again, depends what version you bought).
