I just did a clean install of Win XP Pro and I still get random lock ups.

What causes this and how can I get rid of them

Please help its ticking me off.

Are you getting BSOD with error messages? If so, what are they?

Or are you getting complete freezes with no feedback?

Or does the machine reboot itself on you?

I think it's better to avoid using the drivers from Windows Update. For the video drivers, try downloading and installing the Detonator 23.11 drivers here.. If you're still getting lockups, check and make sure that if you're installing any other drivers, that they are designed for Windows XP. If you're still getting lockups after all this, then you're screwed... :D J/K Just post back.

I installed the newest video driver i could find at Nvidia and I haven't had a freeze yet

But I do get rare and random reboots

I can live with it for now.
