XP install question.......no icons

I have installed XP on several computers with no problems. I installed it on a computer last night and now i dont have any icons on the desktop. Show icons is checked so thats not it. It does have the recycle bin on the desktop but thats it. Anyone ever seen this before?

happens all the time to me. I think its normal.

I'm not complaining, keeps me from having to clean up the 20 icons that MS normally stick on your desktop

right click on the start menu>properties>switch to classic will give you all the normal icons

Chickendinner.......did that.........no icons in any style I choose........i can just put them on there myself.......just wondering if it is a bad install?

There's an option in display properties where you choose to show things like My Documents, My Computer, and My Network Places on the desktop. Is that what you need?

 

It's the new thing.. "Blank Desktop". Active desktop wasnt working for MS so...

I've always had the same prob. I just ghosted a partition to make it easy.

Right click on desktop, goto properties. CLick on desktop tab and click customize desktop button. Thank microsoft haters for that one.

yep... i ran into this before too.
you must have the copy that i have.

but after searching around for abit...
i found the key like what xzeroII said.
