xp install keyboard issues

First off I'm building my second computer with:

e6550
dfi p35-t2rl
2 gig patriot ddr 800
8800gt
sata WD 320gb hdd
sata dvd/cd drive
usb keyboard
usb mouse

Well the issue is when I try and install xp I get through the installation of raid drivers and bios setup and my keyboard works, but right after I install sata drivers during xp setup. The next menu is press enter setup xp or r to repair, but my usb keyboard stops working. I know their is no issue with they keyboard, but I can't press enter and install xp. I've been looking and some places recommend slipstream, but I'm not real familiar and I would like to format my hdd to place windows on its own partition any advice or links to help?

I've heard that maybe a ps2 keyboard might work going to try that in the mean time.

yeah, PS/2 keyboard should work. I have problem with usb keyboard even in Vista, but PS/2 always works.
