XP install and partition problem

I just built a new C2D rig. In preperation for the build I used the rig in my sig to format the new hard drive with NTFS and create two large partitions. I'm considering picking up Vista later on and going dual boot with each OS on it's own partition. When I built the rig (and installed XP Pro) I ran into a temporary glitch booting with the Badaxe2. I allowed XP Pro to do a quick NTFS format of partition 1, the one I installed XP Pro on.
Here's the problem. Later I noticed that boot.ini, ntdetect.com, and ntldr were all installed on partition 2 (instead of partition 1 where the rest of the XP Pro install went.) I assume that just moving these to partition 1 won't work, and I've put too much work into the XP Pro install just to reformat and reinstall it.
Is there anyway to move them to partition 1 without messing anything up ?
