XP - How Many Can You Install Legally?

If you buy 1 copy of XP, can you only install it on one of your machines? For some reason, the number 3 was sticking in my head. Somone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm going to be owning 2 Windows PCs for the first time in my life soon. :)

You can install it on -one- machine. (Office XP allows 2 installations.) Microsoft will be selling licenses for additional PC's in the same household at a 15-20% discount.

I just saw bill Gates on TV.He said that if you install it on another computer,Microsoft will inform you that you need another "license"

So, if I buy the OEM copy for $140 (pro), they would charge me $300 plus for a second lisence (retail -20%)?
