I done searching on the boards with people trying to do this. I haven't found anything that says 100% that XP home can be upgraded to pro. A friend asked me today and I had no idea. I always install pro. Basically, is there an upgrade from home to pro? Does it even work well? Formatting and putting pro on is probably better then, right?

That will really work? Is there an XP Pro Upgrade disc? Or do they need the full pro version?

what are your reasons for the change if you don't mind me asking......XP Pro isn't all that different in normal use......a few more security bit and peices....more network functions and some other bit and bobs.....but if it is just for normal use you may as well stay with XP Home!

I hate XP home with a passion. To me there is a huge difference between home and pro. Networking wise and all that good stuff is a pain in home edition. My friend's son is going away to school and they require xp pro and won't work on/support home. He needs to go to pro and he wanted to know if he could just upgrade.

Has anyone ever experienced the message: "Invalid PID".
I'm trying to install a Windows XP Professional upgrade on a Compaq Presario 2200 laptop. This is the second Windows XP Pro upgrade that's been purchased. The first did the same thing. Surprise! Compaq & Microsoft are no help.
