xp home-protecting files

hi.is there a simple way to protect files from deletion or being changed.i have 2 folders 'music' and 'pics' which i wish to share for viewing and playing but i want to protect them from accidental deletion modification etc. or if theres a freeware program to do this maybe

Share them with read-only attributes.

Uhm. I don't recall if you can disable simple file sharing in Home or not.

if i remember xphome correctly, right click folder in explorer, share and select "read only" for the folder. i'm sure it's in home.
