XP Home or Pro??

Im running win2k pro right now, but i use it for home use and not professional use. I wanted 2kpro for the stability (computer came with ME

) and i like some of the administrative tools, but im not so sure that i need the pro version of XP if home comes with some of the same features. I'll probably be setting up a home network soon also, would one of them be easier to set up with or run it? any thoughts would help, thanks!

IMHO:

Use Pro if you want to:

-create (or join) a domain

or

-use Remote Desktop

Otherwise, Home will do everything you want to do.

Actually, that list is not entirely correct. Home DOES support EFS, NTFS permissions, group policy (local machine only, of course), and sysprep, to the best of my knowledge.

However, the user interface for some of these features is hidden in XP Home. But the underlying functionality is still there.

Nevertheless, from a practical standpoint, the FAQ is accurate enough to be very useful.

perhaps you should make representations to AndyHui about it's accuracy!
