XP home edition

I am trying to help a friend get her Internet Exploerer working on XP. It was previously working and now when the app is clicked the hour glass appears and disappears with out loading Expolerer. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a fix.

Sure, run a virus scan. Then run a spyware scan. If that still does not work, try a system restore. If that does not work, try a repair. If that does not work, reinstall XP.

Sounds like a system administrator's structured automatic response.

Does the normal explorer (the one to look through your computer's files) work? IE is just an extension of this, so you might be able to just access the internet by typing in a URL in file explorer. She should type "iexplore" at the run command to see if that works. If it does, then she needs to fix the shortcut.
