I just bought XP home to install on my new machine. The install is hanging (without error messages or progress for hours) during the saving system settings (final portion of install). I tried to read some info off of the CD and was told the .cab was corrputed (/support/tools/deploy.cab). I tried to copy the CD, but it errors off after about 80% reading the disk. When I opened the package the CD was not on its holder and is scratched and had some glue residue on the disk.

How do I get a replacement disk? How long will this take? Will the retailer (Staples) give me another copy?

Thanks for any info.

Try Staples first, the store usually have a godd exchange policy. Make sure you still have your receipt. If the store fails, try contacting microsoft ( the number should be on the package) and they can send you one right away.
