XP- Format hard drive

I want to format my primary hard drive so I can do a clean reinstall.

Can you use the format C: command with XP/ntfs.
Or do do I delete the partitition via fdisk.

Please enlighten me urgently.

Will that totally wipe all data on the drive?

Last time I had to the same thing a couple of yars ago and was totld to stick in a bootable copy of win 98 and delete the partition that way........Is that not necesary!

I have ran every swep under the sun ..........

Very strange, Anyway have moved any suff I want to keep to ano ther drive..

Tomorrow I wiill unstall XP again.

you shouldn't get the message on a fresh install of windows. you probably installed some type of malware, and it has altered your wallpaper.
 
Unplug your internet before you reformat, and then install a good firewall and anti-spyware program before connecting to the internet.

Sorry for not being clear........
Tjis is why I am goung to re-insall.
I can't change whe wallpaper eiether.

Just for info.....This came from a torrent site.
My system went momentarily haywire.......I instantly unplugged my moden.. then ran multipe scans. My system is definetly clean and secure now exept for that ****** on my screen
