Hi All
I use a dual boot system of Win98SE and XP Pro. Both are fat 32. The defrag in XP is the pits so I wonder if any one has used the defrager in win 98 on a XP partition or heard of any problems doing this?
Thanks for reading ......GEC

Shouldnt be much of a problem. But the XP defrager is much better, and more suited to XP.

Hi all
The XP defrag is very good when using NTFS, but is stinko with Fat 32. A 15 to 30 minute defrag is common using Xp defrag and Fat 32 and you will not be completely defraged when completed. I ran some tests and found that Win 98 defrag does a complete defrag on a XP partition in about 3 minutes and leaves no open unused spaces. Going to Xp defrag confirms that the partition is completely defraged. XP is a nice operating system but Win 98SE has many features that are handy such as Two sided printing using my old work horse HP printer, game patches that work and of course the very fast and complete defrag. For me Dual Boot is the only way to go.

Game patches that work? What games are you referring to?

HI ALL
The patches was for "NO CD". Need for speed porsche, Combat flight sym, Crimson skies would not accept the no cd patch in XP. So I installed the games in Win98 and put a short cut on the XP desktop and everything works fine.

I use an old helix > Network Associates > mcafee > Nuts & Bolts - Disk Tune defragmenter
in windows 98 for my XP fat32 20gb partition.
I can order files just about any way you like since it works outside of XP.

try diskkeeper it keeps my system running smooth and defrags more than one drive at a time too
