I have a bunch of XP computers that connect to my Domain (Windows 2003 Server) and have not had a problem except with two of my computers. The two that I have the problem with connect to the domain fine but after you restart the computer you need to reconnect to the domain each and every time. It acts like it was never connected.
These computers are set up the same as all my others and I have tried every thing I can think of any help would be great.

Thanks

Do you see their account get created in AD? Do you have more than one DC?

What do you mean they need to be reconnected? Do you actually go under Network Identification and specify the domain name everytime? Are you getting an error messagE?

Thanks for your help.

I can see their account in AD. I only have one DC.

If I shut down the computer I have to log on to the computer as the Admin then go to Network Identification and specify the domain again and then it will join the domain. I have to do this after every restart or I get an error that the domain controller can not be found.

Thanks

Double check that the DNS server listed in those 2 machines is your internal DNS ip?

Yes the DNS IP is the IP address of my local DNS.

No they are not multihomed computers.

Thanks for all your input.

Make sure your licensing is correct.
Also, verify that your DNS is setup correctly. Check you DNS entry in the eventlogs for registration errors.

Do an ipconfig /all on the client machine and verify that you are looking at the right DNS.

If all of that looks good then do this.
Remove the clients from your domain.
Goto AD User and Computers and delete the computer account.
Rename the client machines and reboot them.
Add them to the domain (as the Administrator).

See if that works. Somes you can loose the client trust w/the domain (happens on imaged machines).
